A village charity, forty years in

What we do

Our registered purpose is plain: to relieve sickness amongst patients at the Constantine Surgery, Constantine, nr Falmouth, Cornwall, by the provision of specialised equipment.

In practice that means we raise money in Constantine, Port Navas and Gweek, and we spend it on equipment, rooms and services for the doctors and nurses at the practice. Defibrillators in four villages. An extra consulting room during the pandemic, so patients could be seen away from the main building. Kit for the bags doctors carry on house calls. Machines that give an answer during the appointment instead of after it.

We also arrange Patient Information Evenings with the surgery team, so people can hear how their own care works and ask about it.

What we are not

We are an independent charity that supports the surgery. We are not part of the NHS and we are not part of the practice. We hold no medical records, we cannot book appointments, and we cannot answer clinical questions — for anything about your own care, contact the surgery directly.

How we are run

Volunteers, no office, no salaries. Our trustees are people from these villages, and our income and spending are filed every year with the Charity Commission where anyone can read them.
